faces of interviewees and a little something


Cristina and two young girls from Normandy in Brazil. They were in Lethem to shop.


Anna to the left is Wappishana (sp) and moved to Lethem from her village to find work. Shirley to the right is mixed and moved to Lethem 26 years ago and she owns the shop where Anna works.




Aunty D. has a Brazilian father and an Amerindian mother. She loves politics.



Moisha was born in Berbice and came to Lethem to work.



Wendy is 25 and moved from Annai. She is half black half Amerindian and just moved into her own home.



Cristina is half black half Amerindian and loves cooking.



Mr. Hamilton is a 93 year old poet who still writes poems and he read some to me.



Mr. Johnson and his wife own the hotel. He arrived in Lethem in the 40s and he is one of the first black men to settle in the area.
